charcoal & graphite on paper
About 18 months ago I moved from Melbourne to Copenhagen and became mildly obsessed with Danish crime thrillers, set on the streets of my new home. This triptych depicts the view from the window of a train traversing the Øresundsbron, the bridge which connects Denmark and Sweden. Locally known as ‘The Bridge’ from the tv series of the same name, it is a road and rail route with views of the sea between the pylons.
This cold, barren seascape represents both the terror and excitement of relocating my life to the other side of the world – oscillating barriers and wide-open vistas offering new perspectives and possibilities.
