In 2005 Kirrily was awarded a Harold Wright and Sarah & William Holmes Scholarship to study the prints and drawings collection of the British Museum, London. For a period of 5 months she was given open access to one of the best collections of its kind in the world – at the time some 3 million items. Working chronologically, Kirrily combined research in the extensive library with looking at prints and copying them in this handmade sketch book. The act of copying enabled her to absorb the minute details of the images. It also allowed her to appreciate the hereditary process of copying that played an important role in the development of the printed image.
